PSTS Episode 76: 3D World Wrap-Up, Link Between Worlds Finalization, and One Cranky Kong

Christmas is approaching, which means it’s time for companies to lock down on all announcements and brace themselves for the biggest purchases of the year. That doesn’t mean games can’t be played, as categorized by Jeff and J.D.’s efficient playing and reviewing of their two newest games. It also means VGX (whatever that is) is coming up, just in time for some previews and maybe awards, if they actually do that sort of thing.

Good prediction on Donkey Kong on the VGX haha
The ridiculous reaction after that surprised me a little, I didn’t think that people had so much expectations. I hadn’t even heard of the VGX before!

It’s unfortunate that the announcement wasn’t something more exciting, but I’m sure it would have had more impact had we not known about it from the leak. All in all I’m pretty excited for the additional characters to play, and Cranky looks like he adds a lot of diversity in his gameplay style. Yeah the VGX is just a name change from the VGA’s (Video game awards). Not sure why they needed a name change, maybe X’s are just more edgy!

According to discussions it’s all a part of a rebranding put forth by GameTrailers in order to attempt to save money while getting more viewers. We’ll definitely be talking about it on Wednesday’s podcast!

That’s classic Nintendo though, right? They usually make lacklustre reveals when there’s a lot of high hopes and then they come up with a Nintendo Direct all of a sudden and surprise everyone with a bunch of cool announcements. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was one of those in January.
By the way, funny how the letter ”x” is always seem by corporations as a powerful tool to attract the public haha

It’s very true, Nintendo is an enigma when it comes to revealing things. We all know they have something awesome to unveil but they probably like toying with us. You know, they probably purposely give us disappointing reveals so that later we don’t expect anything good! I’m on to you Nintendo!
