PSTS Episode 11 – Uplay, Rehashes, and the Idiom Nazi

Another exciting week at Press Start to Start. Not for any particular reason; we’re just excited that you’re listening. You, specifically. This week we’re talking about all of your favorite subjects: JD has played a bit more Skyrim, Jeff has finally braved the ridiculous intricacies of Ubisoft’s DRM/software service Uplay, and we both have a lot to talk at you about in regards to the various games we’re Let’s Playing on YouTube right now (our user is PressStart2Start, in case you missed that). We also have some news from the front including an interesting “secret owner” of the rights to the next STALKER game, exactly what Gabe Newell thinks about Windows 8, and when a specific failing MMO is going to be free to play. But first we’ll talk for an extensive time on the difference between a rehash and franchise evolution, and why it sometimes applies and sometimes doesn’t.
